A work that has been in the making for several years. I came up with the concept of Asphodel Meadows back in 2009 and this album marks the first chapter in a saga of albums that I have planned.

I - Dark Energy: This track is a dark ambient piece that represents spirit energies in the void that can be felt in a dark mind. The idea is that these energies come into contact with our character and are the spark that starts the descent into depression.

II - Isolation: This track speaks of being on the fields and is meant to be a metaphor for what it is like to feel isolated even amongst company. This was the first track that was recorded as well.

III - I See Them, I Serve Them: Initially this track was pretty much the same as the first song. But then I came across some lyrics that I wrote a few years ago when I was having visions of faces screaming and laughing at me when I was trying to fall asleep at night. They scared the hell out of me and I found it very inspiring.

IV - A Vision of Paradise: I have always wanted this song to have lyrics and vocals but could never execute anything worthy so this is just a great track to chill out to and absorb that magnificent guitar tone, which isn't even a guitar it's the sound from a Roland GAIA SH-01 Analogue Synth. The concept of the title though is meant that you have a vision of the afterlife and that it feels really positive and painless. The lack of lyrics in a way also can be seen as the desire for silence and the supposed "paradise" would not ever call for speech.

V - Closure: This song came about somewhat unintentionally. I was converting an audio clip from one of the other tracks into MIDI in Ableton. The clip became this piece and I loved it enough to have it as a track on its own.

VI - Farewell: This is the end. This is the track in which our character drinks and overdoses himself into the underworld. I really wanted a funeral doom like feel to it, taking inspiration from an artist known as Nortt. Michael has no desire to go on and the evil inside him finds its voice. The vocals were all improvised and done first take as I was depressed and drinking. From this track onward the rest of the story is set in the underworld and that will be where the second album will take place.
